WHAT IS USCIS CHANGING

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will begin expanding in-person interviews for certain immigration benefit applicants. Starting October 1, 2017, USCIS will begin to phase-in interviews for the following:

Adjustment of status (“green card”) applications based on employment

Refugee/asylee relative petitions

Previously, it was discretionary on whether applicants in these categories required an interview with USCIS officers. Additionally, USCIS is planning an incremental expansion of interviews to other benefit types.

HOW DOES THIS AFFECT YOU?

It is expected that processing times for all pending petitions with USCIS will lengthen over time as this policy is implemented. Contact the Schunk Law Firm PC for assistance with USCIS interview preparation and lengthy processing times.
